In my experience, I’m finding more and more often that customers are not leveraging the massive amount of data they have available to them.
Let’s use the example of a department store chain: they want to generate a promotion that is bespoke to each individual store. It takes about eight weeks to gather the data, analyse it and then create the promotion. By this time, the promotion is no longer optimal for the store. So wouldn’t it be great if we could reduce this to one week? That’s exactly what US department store Sears did by utilising a Hadoop cluster to store and process data from all their different brands.
Making the most of the department store theme, I have put together a short video demonstration that shows how quick it can be to create meaningful insights using our best-of-breed business intelligence tool: Tableau.
